Description
It breaks my heart to let it go but here it is: This is a Vintage Gretsch White Falcon made in USA. The serial number (368xx) indicates a production date of 1960. I am not the original owner but have had the honor of owning this prized possession for about 10 years. When I bought this guitar, I had the pleasure of talking to the late Duke Kramer (GM of the original Gretsch company) on the particulars of this guitar. Duke told me that many of the Gresch guitars were made one year and not sold or cataloged until the next calendar year. Also Duke mentioned that most White Falcons manufactured in this era were custom orders. So although you may see that certain features were standard in a particular year, some were not inclusive because of the custom requirements. For example, the double cutaway was not available until 1962. When Duke referenced his documentation for this guitars serial number, he mentioned that it was manufactured in 1960 but was not exactly sure when it was sold. Duke also commented that the Gretsch company was not very organized with their serial numbering system. The body is a double cutaway design and has an arched multibound with gold sparkle maple top with bound F holes and ivory white finish. Thin maple sides and arched maple back with access hole (plastic cover) and white snap on pad with gold trim. Set maple neck with 21 fret ebony neck, multi-bound with gold sparkle, pearloid "Thumbnail" inlays. Unique White Falcon headstock multi-bound with gold sparkle truss rod cover & logo, name plate and serial number, gold Grover "Stairstep" tuners. Two Gretsch "Filtertron pickups with gold covers and trim rings. 3 position pickup selector, 3 position tone switch individual pickup and master volume controls with gold "G" knobs with ruby pointers. Gold "Cadillac" G logo tubular tailpiece, rosewood gold bridge with adjustable saddles. Raised hold pickguard (no cracks) with black logo and falcon. Gold strap holders. The tone on this guitar is so sweet, you can feel your teeth rot while you play. This guitar will come with its original case which is in perfect condition. No tears no rips no cracks and all latches work. 1.  THIS GUITAR HAS NEVER BEEN GIGGED AND HAS BEEN STORED IN A SMOKE FREE ENVIRONMENT. 2. THE ONLY TIME THIS GUITAR HAS COME OUT OF IT'S CASE WAS TO SHOW OFF TO OTHER GUITAR ENTHUSIAST. 3. IT IS TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS GUITAR IS ALL ORIGINAL (except for pot replacements with Gretsch pots). 4. EVERYTHING ON THIS GUITAR WORKS. 5. IN A RATING BETWEEN 1-10, THIS WHITE FALCON IS A 9 1/2. 6. THERE IS ONE EXTREMELY SMALL PAINT TOUCH UP AT THE HEAD STOCK WHICH IS POINTED OUT IN THE PICTURE WITH A PICK. 7. THIS GUITAR IS SOLD AS IS AND BELIVE ME "AS IS" IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. 8. THE ONLY REASON I AM SELLING THIS GUITAR IS BECAUSE I AM RECENTLY DIVORCED AND HAVE TO DO SILLY THINGS LIKE EAT AND PUT A ROOF OVER MY HEAD. PLEASE DISREGARD THE DATE ON THESE PICTURES. THEY WERE TAKEN WITH A BORROWED CAMERA. THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN 12/2/2008. I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE DATE. Please feel free to email me with any questions and good luck with your bidding.
