Chief mining engineer(and Queen of the Island) AnnMarie checks the gold content and sends it along to the luthiers at the foundry. Here, this aged 2002 R7 Gold top underwent some changes. All of the interior and exterior Gibson and RS Guitarworks' parts were scrapped in favor of all 50's parts except for the aged reissue tuners from Gibson. Long magnet PAF at the bridge, short magnet PAF at the neck, set of 57 pots and bumblebee caps, 57 truss cover, 57 knobs and jackplate, 57 M69 pickup rings, 57 screws, 68 pickguard, 58 bracket for pickguard, 59 strap pins, 58 no wire ABR1 bridge, long studs and 58 aluminum lightweight tailpiece. It also has a 57 switch ring and switch. To top it off a real 57 switch tip. Stock Gibson switch and pot covers were used(black). RS Guitarworks did the aging, Roy's guitar. He recarved the top and painted it with correct paint, gave it a rolled edge fretboard treatment and dyed the fretboard darker. The vintage parts, as you might imagine for a 100,000 dollar Gold Top are VERY EXPENSIVE, well over $12,000 in this guitar. This guitar wipes the stage with any of the other 57 reissues around town. An extreme amount of extra work has been put into this guitar. If it wasn't for the ever slightly larger binding than a 1957, and the R7 stamped in the pot cavity, you couldn't tell this from a real 57.
