The violin bears no label and is made on an Amati model. Frank Passa attributed the violin to Giovanni Maurizi and made between 1870-80. As I write stringed instrument insurance appraisals for State Farm and the like, I have no trouble with Passa's assessment of the origin or maker and will include my paper stating that and a replacement value of $8,000. THE SOUND OF THE VIOLIN IS LIKE HOT BUTTER. IT IS A TRUE SOLO VIOLIN AND SUITABLE FOR ALL PROFESSIONAL WORK. AS I AM SO SURE YOU WILL LOVE THIS VIOLIN, IT IS OFFERED WITH A FULL PURCHASE PRICE GUARANTEE WITHIN THE USA/CANADA. (All foreign sales are final) The violin has many quality features: fine inlayed purfling on the table and back with bee-sting corners, well cut f-holes, and it is lined and blocked. The wood is fine grain spruce on the table with beautiful flamed maple on the ribs,back, neck and scroll. The scroll is master cut, fine and deep. The pegs match but work great ! The original reddish/amber oil varnish as age scratches. The violin has NO DAMAGE, is in excellent health and is ready to play! The sound is big, robust, bright, clear, balanced,  and warm, excellent in the higher positions. It will be shipped in an old case. L.A.
