Description
Rare 1874 Sohmer Square Grand Piano This piano is a very beautiful piano built in August of 1874 and was purchased from the Oscar Hammerstein Estate. The piano is a beautiful Brazilian Rosewood and has it's original Ivory keys. It is in excellent shape with no scratches, marks, or broken parts. It is a true beautiful Antique and hard to part with, my future new home will not have space for it. The piano was stored at Wilson Harpsichord in Lambertville N.J. Robert Wilson is a renound expert in building, preserving and restoring string instruments and can actually verify the piano did come from this Estate. The piano itself is 6.9 feet long and approxamently 3 feet in depth and height. It has a serial number of #3670. It was last tuned in 2007. I will ship it insured to you anywere in the United States except for Hawaii free of charge on me. Oscar Hammerstein died in 1960 and his Estate was finally settled in 1978 when my parents purchased the piano. Oscar Hammerstein was born July 12th 1895 in New York, New York. He was best known for co-writer of Oklahoma and The Sound O f Music! He was one of the 20th century's most influential writers of musical plays. As a lyricist he collaborated with well known Richard Rodgers to make some of the most successful musicals in U.S. history!! Here is a picture of them:
