RARE STEINWAY & SONS MODEL "B"  7' GRAND - Circa 1897 * *MUSEUM QUALITY** Offered for sale is this ONE OF A KIND RARE STEINWAY & SONS 7'  GRAND PIANO - MODEL "B" with an EXCEPTIONAL Louis IV carved art case that has  Angelic styled Cherub heads and A HEAVENLY SOUND. It comes from a Cooperstown, New York area Estate and has been off the market for over 84 years. The Serial number is B86579 and from my phone conversation with David Kirkman, of Steinway & Son's, I was given the following information: The piano was delivered September 1897 to C.S. Wray at E. 56th Street, N.Y.C.. It was a special order with a decorated finish Louis IV case done by Steinway artist Arthur E. Blackmore. The case looks like it has since had another light coat of paint decoration applied at some point in time (1950's ? ) and shows normal age evident wear. There is a small piece of carving missing on one of the legs and another small 2 1/4" piece from the rim that we have . The new owner will have the option of trying to refurbish the older decoration or restore with another one. Note: We feel this is an investment grade instrument, made by one of the premier piano makers in the world, and with the proper restoration will appraise in excess of $175,000. to $225,000.
