Description
Up for auction is my dear Aunt Ruth's 1953 Wheatstone 55 Key Crane / Triumph Duet Concertina. It has been in the family since at least 1960. We are compelled to sell it to raise funds to help with our niece's cancer treatment costs. Here's what I know...Serial Number 35904 (See Horniman Museum, Dickinson Archives, Ledger SD03, Page 064)Year: 1953System: Crane / Triumph DuetSix Sided55 KeysNickel PlatedOriginal Leather Hand StrapsOriginal Leather BellowsOriginal Leather CaseRed Fabric Dust Cover under Metal FaceImmaculate ConditionConcert PitchLike I mentioned above, it is in immaculate condition. The case has served well as a sort of time capsule as it has been seldom played in the last 35 years. I have played through the notes and all sounds great, great intonation and great tone as you would expect a Wheatstone to have. The only fault I can find is that on the left side, the adhesive that keeps the red velvet like dust cover (if that's what you call it... someone correct me) attached to the metal end-plate has come loose in spots. A minor issue if you choose to fix it.
