The maple back, sides and neck are beautifully flamed. The very rare Engleman Spruce top has fabulous patina. I used an ebony fret board, tailpiece, end pin and four piece tuners with ebony pegs. This is a light bass. It sounds amazing. It's very even, resonant, and has great projection. Its narrow upper bouts allow even smaller folks full access to the fret board.
