Description
For sale is a used Holton Farkas H281 Double French Horn, featuring a removable rose brass bell that produces a darker sound. Serial number #624248. Capable of a wide range of dynamics, it can be played loud without a brassy edge to the sound. The large throat, red brass bell of the Farkas 281 F Horn is perfect for woodwind quintet work, where a darker sound is needed for blending purposes. There is wear on the lacquering where the hand goes into the bell and some other spots, along with a few cosmetic scratches and minor dings, which I have tried to show in the photos. The horn just got back from the shop, where it was flushed and polished. The valve and valve casings were cleaned, the slides were pulled and greased, and the rotary valves restrung, so it’s ready to play! An excellent Holiday present for the horn player who is ready to advance to the next level. This horn lists new for $5,525.00 and sells for 3,599.00. Two mouthpieces are included. This horn comes with a Marcus Bonna horn case, which is extremely lightweight and portable. I believe it is the Marcus Bonna MB1 model, which sells new for $433.00. Total cost, new, is $4,032. I am requesting a minimum bid of $1,650 for the horn and case. Here is some information on the horn case, from the Marcus Bonna website: http://www.mbcases.com.br/ Marcus Bonna was a São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra horn player from 1982 to 2002. After suffering an accident in 1990 and have had his back seriously hurt, he projected a case for himself, lighter, compact and with a brand new design in order to facilitate the transportation of his instrument, as the cases which there were in the market were too big and heavy. At his surprise, the case was so successfully among his colleagues from the orchestra that, in a short time, the same colleagues had the new case made in fiberglass by Marcus Bonna himself. (Model MB 1). In 1991, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra had a performance in São Paulo. When the horn players from this orchestra saw the new horn case model they got very impressed and interested in getting one. For this reason, to start sending the orders, not only to Brazil but also abroad, in 1991 the MB company was founded, that nowadays has 45 employees at his own head office located in São Paulo. The MB exports about 480 cases a month for more than 25 countries. All the cases and mutes are handmade. The cases model are exclusive (some of them are protected by a patent), all designed and developed by Marcus Bonna himself. Shipping will be handled by USPS. I will ship to the Continental United States. Use the shipping calculator to estimate your total cost. Paypal is the only form of payment accepted.
