Description
ENGLISH CONCERTINA – WHEATSTONE AEOLA 48 KEY TREBLE (MODEL 4E) Up for Auction is this late model Wheatstone Aeola 48 Key Treble (Serial No.: 36297). As you will see from the attached pictures, this is a very tidy instrument and has been well looked after. It has had very little use and has not been tampered with. It has the characteristic sound of a steel reeded Wheatstone concertina and the look of its more expensive earlier model siblings. The entry placed in the Wheatstone Concertina Ledger (Ledger SD03, Page 081) held at the Horniman Museum, lists this Aeola as a Model 4E, manufactured in the year 1956 (http://www.horniman.info/DKNSARC/SD03/PAGES/D3P0810L.HTM).It has raised Ebonised Ends* with original cloth baffles, nickel silver buttons and 6 fold bellows. Internally it is immaculate, testament to the little use it has had. Reed pans are clean and flat with no sign of having been kept in damp surroundings. The ‘steel’ reeds themselves are clean and bright and the instrument is still in good tune and voice. Both action boxes are clear, tidy and fully functional. The pads are original yet in good condition and there are no major air leaks (Leak test duration was more than 30 seconds when instrument hung by one end). The bellows has no sign of ware and is still in remarkably good condition. Finally, this concertina comes with its original leather bound case which has a lockable latch (key included), leather handle and a blue velvet lining with Wheatstone label attached. If you are looking for an entry level concertina or you wish to step up from a brass reeded instrument to something a little more verbose, then this is the instrument that you should consider. It has the traditional Wheatstone flavour albeit more contemporary in construction and is light and compact and has a great sound. Earlier instruments of this type will set you back almost twice what I am asking for here.*Please Note: Some fine surface cracking of the top veneer of both ends is evident (NB: This does not effect the stability or sound of the instrument. Ends can be easily and cheaply refinished if desired)  POSTAGE AND PAYMENT: This item is available for International Shipping or Local Pickup. Please contact me for a quote on postage or courier services charges and insurance (NB: The instrument will need to be insured to protect both the buyer and seller from possible loss or damage during transit. Both postage and insurance are extra and at the cost of the buyer). IMPORTANT: Please refer to my feedback (http://myworld.ebay.com.au/yirtakki) to understand my current low score – Thank you!RETURNS: See returns policy below! QUERIES: Please message me here if you have any queries regarding this concertina and I will endeavor to answer you in a timely fashion. – Thanks!
