Conn 6A Victor "Long Cornet" Start Price USD 99.99 Current Price USD 305.00 Time Left - Bid Count 4 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Wednesday, December 03, 2008 End Time Wednesday, December 10, 2008 Location Lovelady, Texas See more about 'Conn 6A Victor "Long Cornet"' Description This is a Vintage Conn 6A "Long Cornet" in good condition and an excellent playing horn.  I love playing this cornet and truly hate to sell it but I have 7 other trumpets and cornets and I must thin out my inventory to try to make Santa show up at my house if you know what I mean (I have four kids!).  Anyways, all the the slides move freely and the valves function great.  This horn's serial # is 834229 which dates this "Long" cornet to the 1960 era.  If you are interested in learning more about this type of cornet, or cornet-trumpet, or trumpet-cornet (depending on your opinion and theories), the Conn Loyalist Web-Site www.xs4all.nl/~cderksen/ has some great information on the Conn 6A, 10A, and 28A series of "Long" cornets.  This horn comes with two mouthpieces: a Bach 6C "gold" rimmed, and an old Conn 4.  This case is not original, it is a "high" impact plastic case that is somewhat ugly (when I bought the horn it was shipped to me without a case or a mouthpiece).  This cornet is brass laquered with nickel plating around the valve casings and out to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd valve slides. Also, it has a Coprion leadpipe that is in good condition.  For a 48 year old original cornet, this horn is in great shape.  The laquer is good, and the horn has some small dents on the "bell curve" that  do not affect the tone or playability.  I have what I sincerely believe is a modest reserve price set for this instrument.  I will ship insured via UPS ground.
