York & Sons Perfec-Tone Cornet Trumpet' Description An Early J.W. York & Sons Cornet in "as found" original condition. I would date this piece around the early 1900’s. It is engraved, "PERFEC-TONE J.W. YORK & SONS GRAND RAPIDS, MICH". The serial number is 57037. This cornet measures 16 ¼" in length. This instrument has a wonderful gold leaf decoration. It does show a few bumps on the bell, see photos. The valves all move freely. This piece is one of several instruments that we have recently acquired from an old band. All of the instruments have been nicely kept however, have not been serviced in many years and are being sold just as we found them. We do not know the playing condition.
