Description
(Attention: I am happy to ship the guitar, just cannot get rid of the "pickup only" line, so please ignore the latter)Bronson Honolulu Master - this super rare guitar was created in the Regal custom shop in the late 1930s. It is a high end model with fancy appointments, pearl top, engraved fingerboard inlays and peghead. Very large body - 16 3/4 inches wide - with sexy jumbo shape. Best of all: quality wood, rosewood back and sides, and (I believe) red spruce top. Absolutely wonderful and unique sound: the combination of large body, high end wood and workmanship with ladder bracing makes for a sensational fingerpicking guitar with the unlikely combination of super quick attack and funkiness on the one side, and depth and body on the other. Sort of a Stella meets D-28 ... (well, actually a D-45, for what the pearl is worth ...)Started its life as a Hawaiian (as most Bronsons), was professionally converted by German master luthier Thomas Amberger who reshaved the original neck to a sort of J-35 shape with a slight V and elegant slim heel. The funny thing is that the guitar almost "begged" to be converted, as its fingerboard came from the factory with a rounded profile, perfectly fretted, as well as with the ideal neck width of just slightly over 1 3/4 inches.Scale length is around a comfortable 25 inches, it is set up perfectly with low action and good saddle. It plays like butter in spite of its relatively large size, really a very special musical instrument with great collector's appeal due to its rarity, beauty and its dating from the very best years of guitar fabrication. Attention: pictures 8-12 were taken prior to its conversion and show its orig. hawaiian setup. Pictures 1-7 represent its current state as a Spanish style guitar.Non orig. hard shell case, but the guitar itself has all its original parts. A few top cracks from bridge down to bottom, all repaired and stable. Otherwise very nice condition. I have seen about a dozen of higher graded Bronson guitars, but this is the only one of this size and frill, although I was told Ben Harper owns another Honolulu Master. This would then make two ..I'd be very interested in learning more about this model, should anybody know more details or own one. Buyer pays actual shipping cost, estimates: ca. 30 GBP in UK, 100 Euro to continental Europe, 290 USD to US, insurance extra. No return, no guarantee, since used private sale. (EU right) Guitar is also for sale locally, so don’t wait for the last minute. Please see my other fine instruments on ebay.
