WARNING: This banjo is very powerful and may be injurious to your ears.This banjo rocks in both the open position as well as up the neck.  The beautiful mahogany neck has a fingerboard of Brazilian rosewood with the "Tree of Life" engraving.  The mahogany neck really adds a considerable amount to depth to this banjo.  This banjo was featured in an article in the Banjo News Letter back in the year 2000, "In Defense of Archtop Banjos", by Jamie Miller. The mahogany neck was added shortly after the article.I bought this as an archtop from the author.  Upon having great success with my PB-4, I added one of the Mitch Tone Ring Mates to this archtop which simply sits on top of the archtop ring to simulate a flathead sound.  The result is a great sounding banjo.  The pot is all original.  The armrest shown came off an RB-250 from the 60s in which I had re-plated.  The original muted-type armrest is in the case--I will add pictures of it along with the Gibson label inside later in the week. The mute mechanism was removed before I purchased the banjo.  The metal on this banjo is slightly tarnished but in excellent physical condition.  The resonator is in decent shape with only a few scratches here and there and virtually no belt bucket rash.  I am only selling this (as well as my other auctions--check them out) in order to raise funds for a pre-war flathead.
