This is the step up for the banjo player who has tried everything else.   TONE: The Heart of the Greg Deering Limited is the genuine Deering bronze tone ring, meticulously fitted to the three ply rock maple rim. Deering tone-rings are machined to two thousandths of an inch tolerance for correct fit and consistent tone. This is a bell like tone ring of precision and power. The GDL pot is fitted with a one piece resonator flange that is thicker and stronger than many competitor's banjos. The flange highlights the warm tones and solid punch of the Deering GDL banjo. The GDL resonator is rare burl walnut that is bound in ivoroid and the sides are accentuated with abalone strips on the inside edge of the binding. The inside of the sidewalls of the resonator are tapered to promote a quick response and clarity of tone that makes the GDL powerful, dynamic, rich, balanced and the choice of discerning banjoists around the world.   PLAYABILITY: The neck is slender with a low profile for fast accurate fingering and comfortable for large and small hands. The unique Deering neck contour supports the hand and promotes speed, strength and ease of movement that is essential to all banjoists. The ebony fingerboard is polished to a slick, fast, surface. The frets are glued in to ensure perfect fretting accuracy, long term stability and ease of refretting. The two way adjustable truss rod provides precision adjustment to maintain superb playability without buzzing.   AESTHETIC: The neck is premium figured walnut finished in its natural dark, rich color and a high gloss. The resonator is a rare burl walnut and finished in the deep natural color of the wood and with a high gloss. The depth and color of walnut is unique and extremely popular and perfectly compliments the contrasting inlays that adorn the neck and resonator. Around the edge of the resonator and along the edge of the neck just next to the ivoroid binding are strips of inlaid abalone shell, painstakingly inlaid one piece at a time. The curly, scroll motif inlays on the fingerboard are precisely inlaid and elegantly guide the player as beautifully sculpted position markers. The common positions are highlighted and the overall effect is beautifully ornate and tasteful. The peghead inlays are the same motif as the fingerboard inlays and are framed by the triple bound peghead.
